TRIBE MEMBER
SPOTLIGHT
Member Spotlight this month is on our amazing tribe member Anne Shirley!
I joined ReDefined because I was struggling with basic movements—things like getting up from the floor, stepping up onto higher surfaces with my photography gear, walking longer distances, and climbing hills were becoming increasingly challenging.
I began with the Controlology and basic yoga classes, which helped me build foundational muscle responses and gave me a deeper understanding of how my muscular system functions. With this improvement, I found myself able to take on more challenging bike rides and longer walks.
Next, I transitioned to the Reformer Move classes, which boosted my stamina and balance significantly.
I noticed a real impact on my overall fitness, weight, and mental alertness. In each class, there was almost one-on-one support—small groups with experienced instructors who paid close attention to any pre-existing injuries and ensured we worked at our own pace. In addition, other instructors would sometimes join to demonstrate movements and offer assistance, creating a supportive, attentive environment.
Thanks to the fitness I gained, I recently traveled to Christchurch, where I could keep up with mountain bike spectators, holding my own while photographing from elevated positions. I drove to Queenstown with ease and felt energized throughout the adventure. I even spent the night on a boat in Milford Sound, starting my day at 5 am in freezing conditions—an experience I wouldn’t have managed before. My mental alertness and physical ability had improved remarkably.
In Queenstown, I climbed Queenstown Hill, reveling in both the view and the victory. I hired a bike and explored the local trails, walking over 100 km during the trip!
Returning to ReDefined, I decided to refocus on Controlology and Low Impact Strength classes. While Reformer Move was incredible, I wanted to continue building a solid foundation and mastering the basics, allowing me to form sustainable habits going forward.
ReDefined has been transformative, providing me with the strength, balance, and confidence to live life more fully and enjoyably.
